JKPDD Issues Important Order For All J&K Govt Employees

In an urgent directive issued by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir, the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Ltd. (KPDCL) is instructed to ensure the timely clearance of electricity dues from all consumers, including government employees and contractors involved in development projects across the Kashmir Division.

With the responsibility of collecting revenue for electricity charges falling under its purview, KPDCL has been assigned revenue targets for the current fiscal year. Regular review meetings, overseen at the highest levels, underscore the importance of meeting these targets, with weekly updates provided to stakeholders.

The Finance Department has emphasized the timely recovery of government funds allocated for power energy dues from government employees. To achieve this goal and meet the revenue targets set for the fiscal year, district authorities are urged to issue circular directives to all Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), District Treasury Officers, and Treasury Officers.

These directives mandate the clearance of electricity dues before disbursing salaries to government employees within their jurisdiction. Similarly, contractors must settle their power bills prior to receiving payments for development projects.

This measure is expected to significantly contribute to revenue realization and safeguard the Union Territory Exchequer.

The Managing Director of Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Ltd., Mussarat Islam, underscores the importance of this initiative in securing government revenue and meeting financial targets for the current fiscal year.

Mussarat Islam stresses the critical role of government employees and contractors in fulfilling their obligations to ensure the smooth functioning of essential services and the sustainable development of the region.

This directive is a proactive step towards ensuring fiscal discipline within the power sector in Kashmir. By streamlining revenue collection processes and reinforcing accountability among stakeholders, the government aims to optimize resource utilization and promote financial sustainability in the delivery of electricity services across the region.

The directive has been circulated to various stakeholders, including the Principal Secretary to the Government, Power Development Department, the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, Chief Engineer of Distribution at KPDCL, Superintending Engineers, Chief Executive Officer of IT&C at KPDCL, Executive Engineers, District Treasury Officers, and Sub Divisional Officers of all Subdivisions at KPDCL.
