New Rule Alert! Get Your FASTag KYC Verified, or You’ll Get Blacklisted

In a recent announcement, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has declared that FASTags lacking complete Know Your Customer (KYC) details will be blacklisted by banks post January 31.

This move is a part of NHAI’s efforts to boost the efficiency of the electronic toll collection system and facilitate smooth traffic flow at toll plazas.

The decision comes in response to emerging reports highlighting instances of multiple FASTags being issued for a single vehicle and the distribution of FASTags without adhering to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) KYC mandate.

Under the ‘One Vehicle, One FASTag’ initiative, NHAI aims to discourage users from employing a single FASTag for multiple vehicles or associating multiple FASTags with a specific vehicle.

It is imperative for users to ensure the completion of KYC for their latest FASTag to prevent inconvenience. Following the directive, only the most recent FASTag account will remain active.

As the deadline approaches, vehicle owners are urged to promptly fulfill the KYC requirements to avoid any disruptions in their FASTag services.

Stay tuned for further updates on this crucial development in electronic toll collection.
