8th Grade Exams Update: JKSCERT Postpones Papers Except English
Srinagar, March 23: The Jammu and Kashmir State Council of Educational Research and Training (JKSCERT) has made a significant decision, postponing all 8th-grade exam papers except for the English subject.
According to sources at the news agency ,the Joint Director Central for JKSCERT cited representations from various quarters within the UT of J&K as the reason behind this postponement.
The official statement released on this matter states, “It is notified for all concerned parties that the Middle Standard Examinations, originally scheduled for March 24th, 26th, and 29th in soft zones and March 26th and 29th in hard zones, have been postponed.”
JKSCERT officials have assured that fresh dates for these exams in both hard and soft zones will be announced soon.
Initially, there was a proposal to conduct the regional language paper of the 8th standard simultaneously in both zones on April 7th. However, due to delays in receiving question papers, particularly for Kashmiri subjects, this plan was disrupted.
Addressing the issue, the Joint Director of JKSCERT for the Kashmir division explained, “Due to the Middle Standard Examination 2024 and related logistical challenges, the confidential material for MSE 2023-24 will be dispatched on March 23rd, 2024, for the Kashmir Division.”
He further elaborated, “As the regional language paper for soft zones cannot be supplied on the original date of March 24th, 2024, due to time constraints, it will be rescheduled to April 7th, coinciding with the hard zone exams for regional languages.”
Expressing concern over the situation, a school administrator in Srinagar remarked, “Normally, we receive all confidential materials, including question papers, well in advance of the exams.”
However, this year, there have been delays, with some materials, including question papers for Kashmiri and English subjects, yet to be received.
