J&K: Winter Vacations Extended Due to Severe Cold Weather, Check Order Here

In light of the ongoing severe cold weather conditions gripping the region, the Directorate of School Education, under the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, has taken a prudent step to further extend the winter vacations for both Government and Private recognized schools in the Summer Zones of Jammu Division.

This decision comes in response to the directives outlined in Order No.1354-DSEJ of 2023 dated 18-12-2023 and 09-DSEJ of 2024 dated 04-01-2024.

The latest official communication, Order No. 22-DSEJ of 2024, issued on 06-01-2024, officially extends the winter break until 12-01-2024.

While the extension aims to safeguard students and staff from the harsh weather, it’s noteworthy that all teaching staff is expected to resume their duties starting from 08-01-2024.

Adding a layer of educational continuity, Heads of Institutions (HOIs) have been explicitly instructed to conduct online classes for students in grades 10th to 12th during this extended vacation period.

This move aligns with the commitment to providing uninterrupted learning opportunities despite the weather challenges faced by the region.

However, it is crucial to underscore the importance of strict compliance with these directives.

The Directorate emphasizes that any laxity or non-compliance from both Government and Private Schools will be viewed seriously and addressed according to the established rules and regulations.

This proactive measure not only considers the academic aspects but prioritizes the safety and well-being of both students and teaching staff.

By extending the winter break, authorities aim to mitigate the impact of extreme weather conditions on the education system while ensuring a conducive learning environment for all.
