Winter Vacation Extended in Kashmir Schools; New Classwork Start Date Announced

Srinagar, Feb 29: With adverse weather forecasts looming over the Kashmir Valley, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir has taken precautionary measures by extending the winter break for schools in the region.

According to a recent directive issued on Thursday, both government and private schools are set to resume classwork on March 4, 2024. The decision comes in light of the Meteorological Department’s weather advisory predicting heavy snowfall in the area.

The order, obtained by news agency, stated, “In view of the weather advisory… classwork in all government and recognised private schools of the Kashmir Division up to the higher secondary level shall commence from 4th March 2024.”

Originally scheduled to reopen on March 1, 2024, this extension aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff amidst potentially challenging weather conditions.

Parents and guardians are urged to make necessary arrangements for their children’s continued education during this extended break. Additionally, educators are encouraged to utilize this extra time for preparation and planning to ensure a smooth transition back to the classroom environment.

While the extension may disrupt previously scheduled activities, including examinations and extracurricular events, the safety of students remains the top priority for educational authorities in Kashmir.

For further updates and announcements regarding the reopening of schools and any additional measures, stay tuned for the latest information.
