Education Department Sets Age Guidelines for Nursery Admissions in J&K

Srinagar, Nov 30: The Education Department in Jammu and Kashmir has introduced new age guidelines for admissions to nursery, Balvatika, pre-school, and Anganwadi. This step follows the restoration of the November-December academic calendar in the Kashmir division and winter zones of the Jammu division.

Under the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP-2020), children must be at least three years old to seek admission to these classes. To align with this policy, the department has designated November 30 as the cut-off date to determine the minimum age for admissions.

An order issued by Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Government, instructs all educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir to follow these guidelines strictly. The order aims to simplify the admission process and provide clear instructions to parents and schools.

This directive applies to all schools in the Kashmir division and the winter zones of the Jammu division, ensuring a smooth and consistent approach to admissions.
