Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Declares Ramadan Start Date
Srinagar, March 11: The sacred month of Ramadan is set to begin in Jammu and Kashmir on March 12 following the sighting of the crescent moon tonight, as declared by Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam.
Announcing the commencement, Mufti Nasir said, “The first day of Ramadan will be observed on Tuesday in J&K. The crescent moon has been sighted, supported by ample evidence.”
He emphasized that after thorough consultations with a 10-member committee, including prominent figures like Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Moulana Rehmatullah, it has been unanimously agreed upon that the fasting month will kickstart on Tuesday.
Mufti Nasir extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of J&K, encouraging them to engage in prayers, Quran recitation, and seek forgiveness during this auspicious month.
Additionally, he announced that the first Tarawih (late-night prayers) will commence from today, Monday.
