In a significant move aimed at streamlining the process and enhancing transparency, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has introduced an online portal for the submission of Annual Property Returns by its employees.
This initiative aligns with the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Servants Declaration of Assets Act and Rules.
According to Circular No.36-JK(GAD) of 2023, every public servant is required to submit annual returns of their assets, along with those of their family members, by the end of January each year. Failure to comply, without a valid reason, may result in consequences under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
To facilitate this process, the newly launched Property Returns System (PRS-Portal) allows J&K Government employees to conveniently file their annual property returns online.
Accessible at http://prs.ik.gov.in, the portal opens on January 1st and automatically closes on January 31st every year.
Non-submission of property returns not only puts employees at risk of legal action under the Prevention of Corruption Act but also jeopardizes their Vigilance Clearance.
Therefore, all Jammu and Kashmir Government employees are strongly urged to submit their property returns for the year 2023 on the PRS-Portal between January 1st and January 31st, 2024.
Additionally, department heads (DDOs) are instructed to ensure the registration of employees who have not yet enrolled on the PRS Portal. They are also responsible for overseeing the timely submission of property details by all employees within the specified deadlines. The portal is set to automatically close on January 31, 2024.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to accountability and adherence to legal procedures, ultimately fostering a transparent and responsible public service environment.
