J&K Govt Announces IPS and JKPS Officer Transfers: Iftikhaar Named ASP Pulwama, Zafar Iqbal ASP Handwara

In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, through its Home Department, has issued Government Order No.: 79-Home of 2024, announcing transfers and postings of several IPS (Indian Police Service) and JKPS (Jammu and Kashmir Police Service) officers, effective immediately.

This order, aimed at optimizing administrative efficiency and enhancing operational effectiveness within law enforcement agencies across the region, reflects the government’s commitment to fostering a robust and responsive governance framework.

Among the notable appointments, Shri Anayat Ali Choudhary, IPS, who was awaiting posting upon repatriation from the Union territory of Ladakh, has been designated as the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Procurement at the Police Headquarters (PHQ). This strategic placement underscores the government’s emphasis on procurement management within the police force.

Furthermore, Shri Master Popsy, currently serving as the Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP) in Reasi, has been transferred and posted as the Deputy Commanding Officer (Dy.CO) of the 7th Battalion of the Indian Reserve (IR), filling an existing vacancy. This reassignment aims to leverage Popsy’s expertise and leadership skills in bolstering the operational capabilities of the 7th Battalion.

Similarly, Ch. Iftkhar Ahmed, another officer awaiting posting upon repatriation from Ladakh, has been appointed as the Addl. SP of Pulwama, aligning with the government’s focus on reinforcing security measures in sensitive areas.

Shri Feroz Ahmad Qadri, currently serving as the Deputy Commanding Officer of the 5th Battalion of the IR, has been reassigned as the Superintendent of Police (SP) for PTWS (Police Training Wing and School) Kashmir, relieving Shri Showkat Ahmad Dar of his additional responsibilities.

In addition to these key appointments, several other officers have been reassigned to various positions across different units and battalions, including Shri Pardeep Kumar as Dy.CO of the 2nd Battalion, Shri Sunil Kumar Kesar as SP of PC (Police Control) Doda, Shri Prithpal Singh as Dy.CO of the 7th Battalion, and more.

These transfers aim to optimize resource allocation and enhance coordination among various law enforcement units.

The Government Order, signed by Santosh D Vaidya, the Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, has been disseminated to various authorities, including the Director General of Police, J&K, the Principal Secretary to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, J&K, and other concerned officers for immediate implementation.

This comprehensive administrative overhaul underscores the government’s proactive approach to strengthening law enforcement mechanisms and ensuring public safety and security across Jammu and Kashmir.
