JKPDD to Introduce New App for Online Payments

The Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department (JKPDD) is set to unveil a new application aimed at simplifying the online payment process for consumers in smart-metered regions.

Previously, Wipro, the company contracted by JKPDD to facilitate online bill payments in a prepaid format, withdrew from the project for undisclosed reasons.

This withdrawal caused significant disruptions in the online payment system for smart-metered areas across Jammu and Kashmir.

Chief Engineer Manhar Gupta stated that technical aspects are being finalized, and the new app will be launched soon to improve the online payment system in these regions. He added that the app’s name will be made public shortly.

The faulty online payment system has led to inflated power bills for consumers over the past three months.
