New Rule: Waiting List Restored for J&K Govt Vacancies, Download Order
In a recent development, the General Administration Department of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has reinstated the waiting list for government positions.
This decision comes in light of the provisions outlined in the Constitution and the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Decentralization and Recruitment) Act, 2010.
According to the notification issued by the Civil Secretariat, J&K, the Lieutenant Governor has directed the addition of a new sub-rule (7) to rule 14 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services Decentralization and Recruitment Rules, 2010.
This sub-rule mandates the concerned Selection Committees to draw up a waiting list comprising 50% of the total number of posts advertised. In cases where the number of vacancies is ten or less, the waiting list is extended to cover 100% of the vacancies.
The Selection Committees are required to forward this waiting list through the Board to the requisitioning authority for consideration against drop-out vacancies.
Furthermore, the waiting list is set to remain valid for a period of one year from the date the original selection list is sent to the requisitioning authority. Importantly, the Selection Committees are prohibited from maintaining or recommending any select or waiting list for future vacancies or vacancies resulting from resignations by selectees after appointment.
It’s notable that the validity period of one year for the waiting list of selectees whose recommendation or selection is withheld by the recruiting agency will be calculated from the date of release of their recommendation.
This notification, effective from 26th September 2023, marks a significant step in streamlining the recruitment process for government positions in Jammu and Kashmir.
