JKBOSE Releases New Guidelines for Class 10th and 12th Students

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has recently announced revised regulations governing subject changes and re-admissions for senior secondary classes, effective from the ongoing academic year.

As per a notification from the Director Academics of the board, these amendments come following recommendations from a dedicated committee and subsequent approval from the relevant authorities.

Previously, candidates of Higher Secondary Examination Part-I and Part-II could change their subjects in which they had failed or been placed in the re-appear category at any session, without needing to reappear in subjects they had already passed.

However, changes were restricted to within the pursued stream or from science/commerce to arts, with no vice versa option.

The amended rules now allow candidates to change their subject stream entirely, albeit with the requirement to cancel previous results in all subjects, except English, at their own risk.

Under the previous guidelines, candidates who left school without appearing in any board examination could seek fresh admission in the next immediate session. Those who appeared in examinations but were declared re-appear or fail were eligible for private capacity re-appearances.

The revised rules specify that candidates seeking re-admission in class 11th must do so in the next subsequent academic session, regardless of their previous status (appeared, not appeared, passed, re-appear, or fail).

They can choose any stream for admission, subject to cancellation of previous results within fifteen days of result declaration.

Candidates who have passed their Higher Secondary Part-II examination (Class 12th) are not eligible for re-admission. Additionally, students undergoing subject stream changes cannot retain awards from previously passed subjects.

These changes aim to streamline the process of subject changes and re-admissions for senior secondary students under JKBOSE, offering more flexibility while maintaining academic standards.
