This announcement follows a comprehensive selection process that began with the issuance of Notification No. 06 of 2021 on October 21, 2021.
The recruitment drive, initiated by the Home Department, received indents on July 2, 2021, and November 23, 2021. The available positions were categorized as follows:
- OM: 600
- SC: 96
- ST: 120

The selection criteria included a written test, followed by a Physical Standard Test (PST)/Physical Endurance Test (PET), with additional weightage given to candidates holding NCC Certificates.
The Computer-Based Written Test (CBT) took place from December 7, 2022, to December 20, 2022, across multiple shifts. Subsequently, the Result/Score-sheet was announced on November 3, 2023 (No. JKSSB COEOEXAM(UT)/54/2022-03).
The selection process continued with the Physical Standard Test (PST)/Physical Endurance Test (PET) and Document Verification in Jammu and Srinagar. The Selection Committee, as per Office Order No. 323-SSB of 2023 dated December 22, 2023, was tasked with preparing the final selection list.
Out of the 1200 advertised posts, 72 were reserved for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) candidates under Horizontal Reservation. Persons with Disabilities were not considered eligible for these positions.
The Provisional Selection List, approved in the Board’s 251 Meeting on December 29, 2023, underwent scrutiny. It included provisions for medical examinations and a five-day window for candidates to raise objections.
After considering representations related to document submissions, corrections, and other concerns, the Selection Committee framed the Final Selection List. This list was presented in the 254 Board Meeting held on January 8, 2024, and subsequently approved for notification.
While the Final Selection List has been announced, it is subject to the outcome of any pending OAs/Writ Petitions before competent courts of law. Additionally, any ongoing enquiries involving candidates in the list may impact their selection status.
Formal recommendations to the concerned Indenting Department will be forwarded separately, and the selection is based on the self-declarations/certificates submitted by the candidates, with scrutiny possible at any stage. The complete Final Selection List can be found in Annexure-A to the official notification.
