This decision, in line with the notification issued under S.O 214 dated 1 July, 2021, and in adherence to the Jammu and Kashmir Police Rules, 1960, underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the operational capacity of the police force.

The vacancies, spread across various categories and divisions, are intended to be filled through direct recruitment, thereby ensuring a transparent and merit-based selection process.

Furthermore, the allocation of vacancies takes into account the socio-economic diversity of the region, with specific quotas earmarked for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Economically Weaker Sections, and Residents of areas adjoining Line of Actual Control/International Border. This targeted approach aims to promote inclusivity and provide equitable opportunities to candidates from all sections of society.

In addition to vertical reservations, horizontal reservations have also been delineated to ensure fair representation and inclusivity within the recruitment process.

These reservations are designated for Women, Special Police Officers (SPO), Ex-Servicemen, and Victims of Human Trafficking (VHG), further underscoring the government’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce within the police force.

The formal communication, dated 19/02/24, from the Secretary to the Government, emphasizes the urgency in initiating the selection process for the referred vacancies. Detailed instructions and requisite information are provided in the accompanying Annexures, outlining the procedural steps to be followed by the J&K Services Selection Board.
