J&K Govt Set to Fill Over 12,000 Job Vacancies, Details Here

In a significant move aimed at tackling the persistent problem of unemployment, the Jammu and Kashmir administration is gearing up to launch a recruitment drive to occupy more than 12,000 vacant positions spanning various government sectors.

According to an official statement, the Jammu and Kashmir government plans to address the longstanding issue of joblessness by filling 12,264 positions that have remained unfilled across several government departments for quite some time now.

Since 2019, the government has already filled a substantial number of vacancies, totaling 31,830 positions, through several recruitment initiatives.

“These selections, amounting to 31,830, have been conducted in a fair, transparent, and prompt manner, with interviews being waived for posts up to the pay level-5,” the document stated.

Sources within the government revealed that the vacancies are spread across departments such as health, Jal Shakti, social welfare, rural development, among others.

“We have identified a considerable number of vacant positions, particularly in the health department. The forthcoming recruitment drives will be conducted swiftly to ensure all these vacant posts are filled,” officials emphasized.

The recruitment process will prioritize transparency and efficiency, adhering strictly to established protocols and procedures, ensuring that merit-based appointments are made to uphold the integrity of civil services.

The objective behind filling these vacancies is to bolster the government workforce, streamline service delivery, and foster inclusive development across the region, officials stated.

Notably, Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a decline in the unemployment rate for graduates aged 15 years, as per data from the Ministry of State for Labour and Employment.

In 2021-22, the estimated unemployment rate for graduates in the region stood at 22.8%, which decreased to 18.3% in 2022-23.

The Home department of Jammu and Kashmir has recently forwarded over 4,000 vacancies for police constable posts to the Services Selection Board, underlining the government’s commitment to addressing unemployment comprehensively.
