In a recent development, the Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has announced an extension of the deadline for the submission of applications for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) examination 2023-24.
The initial notification, dated November 9, 2023, highlighted the invitation for applications from Class VIII (8th) students.
However, considering various factors, the board has decided to extend the deadline until February 15, 2024.
The concerned Chief Education Officers (DNOs) are instructed to ensure the timely submission of complete application forms along with the requisite documents and district-wise database to the CDR Wing, located in Bemina, Srinagar, and Rehari Colony, Jammu.
This submission is expected within seven days from the closing date of the extended notification.
The announcement further directs various authorities, including the Principal Secretary to Government, School Education Department, the Director of JKSCERT, and the Head of Educational Survey Division at NCERT, to disseminate information regarding the extension.
Moreover, the Director of School Education in Jammu/Kashmir is urged to enhance awareness among eligible students of Government Schools, encouraging their participation in the NMMSS examination 2023-24.
This extension aims to facilitate a broader reach and ensure the inclusion of eligible students in the scholarship scheme.
For further information and necessary actions, the JKBOSE has communicated with relevant stakeholders, including the Deputy Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education in New Delhi, and the Joint Secretary Examination/Secrecy at JKBOSE-KD/JD.
