Bad News for Haris Rauf: PCB Takes Strong Action; Check Here

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a decisive step by terminating the central contract of fast bowler Haris Rauf, effective from December 1, 2023.

This move comes in the wake of Rauf’s withdrawal from participating in Pakistan’s recent Test series against Australia.

The board’s decision stemmed from dissatisfaction with Rauf’s lack of a valid medical report or substantial reason for his absence during the 4-match Test series held on Australian soil, which Pakistan unfortunately lost 0-3.

Furthermore, the PCB has withheld the issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Rauf, restricting his participation in overseas T20 tournaments until June 30, 2024.

During the period when Pakistan was engaged in the Test series against Australia, Haris Rauf notably represented the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League 2023-24.

In an official statement, the PCB emphasized that after conducting a thorough hearing process involving all relevant stakeholders, including a personal hearing with Rauf on January 30, 2024, it was concluded that his response was unsatisfactory.

The statement underscored the significance of playing for Pakistan as the pinnacle honor and privilege for any athlete, highlighting Rauf’s refusal to be part of the Test squad without providing a medical report or a valid reason as a significant breach of his central contract.

The decision to terminate Haris Rauf’s central contract underscores the PCB’s commitment to upholding the principles of accountability and adherence to contractual obligations, ensuring the sanctity of representing Pakistan in international cricket.
