Warning: Dangerous Apps Removed From Play Store – Check If You Have Downloaded

In an effort to combat cyber threats, Google has taken action against six harmful applications embedded with dangerous malware.

These applications, which pose a serious risk to users, have been identified and removed from the Google Play Store.

The rise of cybercrimes highlights the importance of cautious app downloads. While Google Play offers a vast array of applications, not all are safe for use.

Despite Google’s Play Protect program aiming to ensure user safety, some malicious apps manage to slip through the cracks.

Recent findings by cybersecurity experts at ESET reveal that twelve applications harbor VajraSpy, a type of remote access trojan (RAT) designed for espionage purposes.

Disturbingly, six of these apps were available for download on the Google Play Store, while the remaining six were sourced from third-party stores.

Once downloaded, these malicious apps unleash VajraSpy onto smartphones, compromising sensitive data such as messages, device location, files, and contacts.

The affected applications include GlowChat, TikTalk, Hello Chat, Quick Chat, MeetMe, Rafaqat, Wave Chat, Nidus, Yohoo Talk, Chit Chat, Let’s Chat, and Privee Talk.

To mitigate risks associated with app downloads, users are advised to exercise caution. Prioritize essential applications and refrain from downloading unnecessary ones.

Before installation, thoroughly review app descriptions and user feedback. Furthermore, scrutinize app permissions to ensure they align with the app’s intended functionality.

In an era of escalating cyber threats, vigilance is key to safeguarding personal data and devices. Stay informed and take proactive measures to protect yourself while navigating the digital landscape.
