Kashmir Braces for Heavy Snow: Check Forecast For Next 48 Hours

Residents of Jammu and Kashmir are bracing themselves for widespread heavy to very heavy snowfall in the upper reaches of the region over the next 48 hours. Alongside this, moderate to heavy rainfall is predicted across most plains of Kashmir.

Specifically, areas like North and South Kashmir are expected to experience moderate to heavy intensity snowfall, while central Kashmir, including Srinagar, may witness moderate snowfall during this period.

In addition to the precipitation forecast, Jammu plains are anticipated to receive moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thundershowers over the next two days.

However, there is a glimmer of hope as weather conditions are expected to improve starting from February 21st across Jammu and Kashmir.

As the region transitions from the 40-day harsh winter period known as ‘Chillai-Kalan,’ which concluded on January 29, it finds itself amidst the 20-day-long winter phase referred to as ‘Chillai-Khurd,’ ending on February 19.

Following this, there will be a 10-day period known as ‘Chillai-Bachha’ (baby cold), starting from February 20 and lasting until March 1.

Despite the anticipation of improved weather conditions later in February, residents should prepare for a significant drop in day temperatures during the forecasted period.

This update serves as a reminder for individuals to take necessary precautions and stay informed about the evolving weather patterns to ensure their safety and well-being.

Authorities advise residents to stay updated through official weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to minimize any potential disruptions caused by the anticipated weather conditions. Stay tuned for further updates as the situation progresses.
