Kashmir Winter’s Not Over Yet: Heavy Snowfall Expected, Check Dates for Details
As winter maintains its stronghold over the Kashmir region, the latest weather forecast indicates a continuation of mostly dry conditions until February 17th.
However, significant changes loom on the horizon as a series of active Western disturbances are anticipated to sweep across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh starting February 18th.
These disturbances are expected to bring about decent wet spells, covering most areas of Kashmir from February 18th onwards.
Heavy snowfall is forecasted over the higher reaches of the valley during this period, while a detailed weather forecast for the plains will be issued soon.
In terms of current temperatures, sub-zero conditions persist in Jammu and Kashmir, with Srinagar recording a low of minus 4.7°C on Saturday. Although there was a slight increase in temperature by two notches compared to the previous night, it remains below normal for this time of year by 4.9°C.
Other areas in the region also experienced below-normal temperatures, with Qazigund, Pahalgam, Kokernag, and Kupwara recording lows ranging from minus 3.2°C to minus 7.9°C. Meanwhile, Gulmarg reported a low of minus 6.5°C, and Jammu recorded a minimum of 7.8°C, both below normal for their respective locations.
