Moderate Rain Expected in Kashmir: MeT Issues Fresh Advisory

The Kashmir Valley is set to experience generally mild weather conditions with no significant weather activity expected until April 10.

According to the latest forecast, light rain or snow is anticipated in a few places towards the early hours of April 5.

From April 11 to 12, there may be light rain or snow in some areas, followed by fresh spells of rain or snow from April 13 to 15. This forecast provides farmers with an opportunity to resume their agricultural operations until the 10th of April.

In the past 24 hours until 0830 hours, various parts of the valley received varying amounts of rainfall. Srinagar received 6.8mm, Qazigund 6.0mm, Pahalgam 5.4mm, Kupwara 4.9mm, Kokernag 6.2mm, Gulmarg 2.2mm, Banihal 1.8mm, and Bhaderwah 1.0mm of rainfall.

Night temperatures across different regions of the valley were also reported. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 7.2°C, which was 0.8°C above the normal temperature for this time of the year. Similarly, Qazigund recorded a minimum of 7.4°C, Pahalgam 2.8°C, Kokernag 6.1°C, and Kupwara 4.9°C. Gulmarg, famous for its skiing activities, recorded a low of minus 1.0°C.

Meanwhile, Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 17.5°C, above normal for the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Banihal recorded 9.0°C, Batote 10.4°C, and Bhaderwah 7.2°C.

Looking ahead, the forecast indicates generally dry weather for the next 24 hours, providing residents with a respite from significant weather disturbances.
