Snowfall Update for Shopian, Kulgam, Srinagar, Pulwama, and Other Districts

Jammu and Kashmir, India – A weather alert has been issued for the region as an active Western Disturbance is set to bring widespread rain and snow to Jammu and Kashmir between Thursday and Friday.

The meteorological spell is expected to commence on Thursday afternoon, initially affecting the higher reaches and gradually extending to the plains by evening.

There is a 50-60% chance of snowfall in Shopian plains, with the possibility of surrounding plains also experiencing snowfall.

Additionally, elevations above 2000 meters are expected to see snowfall. However, as of the current conditions, Srinagar is not anticipated to receive snowfall.

It is important to note that the forecast is currently in the monitoring stage and may change within the next 24 hours. This early forecast has been issued as a precautionary measure to inform farmers about the upcoming weather event.

There is a possibility that a persistent heavy spell of rain in Shopian plains could result in a transition to all-snow precipitation. The highest likelihood of snowfall in the plains is expected in Shopian district, followed by Kulgam district.

Residents and travelers in the region are advised to stay informed about the evolving weather conditions and take necessary precautions. This weather alert is provided by Kashmir Weather.
