Speaking at a public durbar in Kupwara, Swain acknowledged the indispensable contribution of SPOs to maintaining law and order. “SPOs are integral to our police family, and we are actively considering mechanisms for their potential induction into the regular force,” he stated.

While not providing explicit details, Swain highlighted the comprehensive support extended to SPOs, their families, and children through existing welfare schemes.

“Addressing the challenges faced by our personnel is a priority. We are committed to ensuring the well-being of SPOs who play a crucial role in our collective security,” he assured.

The disclosure comes amidst discussions within the police force about avenues for growth and stability for SPOs. Swain highlighted the need to recognize the dedication and service of SPOs, suggesting that discussions are underway regarding their potential integration into the regular police force.
