RTO Kashmir Cancels 36 Licenses and RCs; Find Out the Reasons Here

Srinagar, February 1st: The transportation authorities in Srinagar took decisive action on Thursday by revoking 36 licenses and vehicle registration certificates of individuals found violating traffic regulations, particularly related to overloading in passenger vehicles.

Addressing the media from his office chamber, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) for Kashmir, emphasized the importance of collective efforts from various stakeholders, including civil society members and religious leaders, to raise awareness about traffic safety and curb overloading in vehicles.

Highlighting the recent tragic accident in Uri, Baramulla, where multiple fatalities occurred, Bukhari stressed the urgent need for public education on road safety and overloading issues to avert similar incidents in the future.

Bukhari underscored the pivotal role of civil societies and religious figures in disseminating crucial messages about traffic rules, as their influence resonates deeply within communities.

“In Srinagar district alone, 36 licenses and vehicle registration certificates were annulled due to various traffic offenses,” revealed the RTO.

Assuring thorough investigations into such violations, Bukhari pledged to implement stringent measures to prevent accidents akin to the recent incident in Uri.

He urged citizens to shoulder their responsibilities in upholding traffic norms and ensuring public safety.
