Kashmir Plains to Witness Heavy Snowfall as New Western Disturbance Approaches

A new Western Disturbance, accompanied by chilly temperatures, is set to impact the region of Jammu and Kashmir for a span of two days starting tomorrow.

During this period, Saturday and Sunday, the Kashmir plains are expected to see maximum temperatures hovering around a mere 2 or 3°C, with temperatures remaining below or near the freezing mark for the majority of the time.

Forecasts indicate that the middle and higher reaches of North, Northwest, and South Kashmir could experience a significant snowfall accumulation ranging between 8 to 12 inches.

Meanwhile, the lower reaches and plains are likely to receive 3 to 6 inches of snow, with the plains of Central Kashmir expecting 1 to 2 inches of snowfall.

Over the next two days, the possibility of light to moderate snowfall in the Kashmir plains is high, with little to no rainfall anticipated.

Similarly, the Jammu region will also experience a drop in temperatures, with snowfall potentially occurring in parts of Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Poonch, Rajouri, and Kathua districts, particularly in areas above 1300 meters in elevation.

The primary intensity of this approaching disturbance is anticipated over parts of South Kashmir and the Jammu region, with heavy snowfall predicted in some areas.

In light of the expected inclement weather from the evening of the 3rd to the evening of the 4th, travelers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and adhere to any advisories issued by the local administration and traffic police.
