JKBOSE Scholarship Notification For Session 2023-24

The Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education, with its academic division located at New Campus, Bemina, Srinagar, and Rehari Colony, Jammu-Tawi, is pleased to announce the National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) for the year 2023-24. This scholarship opportunity is open to candidates who appeared for examinations in the years 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.

The National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) is a beacon of hope for students who aspire to achieve academic excellence but may face financial constraints. This scheme, initiated by the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India, aims to identify and nurture talented students from economically weaker backgrounds.

Inviting Applications for 2023-24

In light of the recent notification (No. 17-1/2023-55) dated September 25, 2023, issued by the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India, the Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education is excited to invite online applications for the National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) for the project year 2023-24. This is a golden opportunity for students who appeared in the NMMSS Examination in 2022, 2021, 2020, and 2019.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the NMMSS, candidates must meet the following criteria:

1. They should have appeared for the National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) Examination in 2022.
2. Their parental income from all sources should not exceed INR 3.50,000 per annum.

These criteria ensure that the scholarship reaches those who truly need it, enabling them to pursue their education without financial burden.

Scholarship Details

The selected students of class IX will be awarded a scholarship of INR 12,000 per annum. This support doesn’t end with class IX; it extends to their studies in classes X to XII, ensuring continuous financial assistance for their education. However, it’s important to note that students studying in “Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas” are not eligible for this scholarship.

Renewal for Previous Years’ Recipients

In addition to inviting applications from current NMMSS beneficiaries, the Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education extends an opportunity to candidates who received the scholarship in the years 2021, 2020, and 2019 and are now in classes 10, 11, and 12 during the session 2023-24. Such students can also submit online applications for their respective renewal installments on the National Scholarship Portal by or before 30th of November, 2023. It’s crucial to note that no extensions will be provided this year under any circumstances.

Verification Process

The online applications submitted by candidates will undergo a two-level verification process:

Level-1 Verification

• Conducted by the concerned Government School
• Deadline: By or before 15th of December, 2023

Level-2 Verification

• Conducted by the concerned Chief Education Officer at the District Level
• Deadline: By or before 30th of December, 2023

This thorough verification process ensures the integrity of the selection process and guarantees that deserving students receive the scholarship they rightfully deserve.

Get Ready to Apply

Heads of institutions are encouraged to get/reset their User ID and Password from the concerned Chief Education Officer (Designated District Nodal Officer NMMS) to verify the students online within the stipulated time period for speedy disposal.
