CBI Files Chargesheet Against 15 in JKSSB Exam Scam
New Delhi, January 1: In a significant development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against 15 individuals in an ongoing investigation related to alleged irregularities in the written examination for the Junior Engineer (Civil) position in the Jal Shakti Department of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a statement issued to the news agency , the chargesheet targets individuals including the former Assistant Sub Inspector of J&K Police, a former Head Constable/Constable of CRPF, a former Sepoy of the Army, a Teacher, and private individuals.
The case was initially registered by the CBI on January 9, 2023, following a request from the Government of J&K, citing irregularities in the written examination conducted by the J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB).
Investigations revealed that a private individual conspired with others to steal the question paper for the JE (Civil) examination.
The stolen paper was then allegedly handed over to the private person, who, in turn, contacted additional accused individuals to organize and solicit candidates for the sale of the leaked question paper.
Further details suggest that candidates were transported to Panchkula in tempo travelers and taxis, where they were provided with leaked question papers in exchange for money.
The extensive investigation spanned multiple states and involved the analysis of voluminous technical data, examination of bank accounts, toll data, and statements from over 100 witnesses. Following the thorough inquiry, a chargesheet has been formally filed against the accused.
It’s crucial to note that, as per Indian law, the accused individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a fair trial, emphasizing the presumption of innocence until guilt is conclusively established.
