Snowfall has finally arrived in the southern regions of Kashmir and the higher reaches of Jammu & Kashmir, breaking the dry spell that has persisted in the area.

The long-awaited snowfall commenced on Thursday evening, offering a respite to the residents and farmers in the Himalayan region.

These forecasts have now materialized, with snowfall gracing various areas across Kashmir.

The Meteorological office has issued an advisory spanning from January 28th to 31st, cautioning residents about the weather conditions.

Additionally, temporary closures of motorways have been anticipated in the higher reaches, including Sinthan Pass, Mughal Road, Sadhna Top, Razdan Pass, and Zojila, due to the snowfall.

Recent updates indicate that snowfall has been recorded in several key locations:

  • – Gulmarg
  • – Sedow-Hirpora Shopian
  • – Doodhpatri
  • – Herpora Shopian
  • – Gurez
  • – Sonmarg
  • – Higher Reaches of Banihal
