Rain and Snowfall Anticipated in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 16: The region of Kashmir experienced another round of rainfall on Monday morning with the promise of more precipitation in the next 24 hours.

According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain has been ongoing since the early hours of Monday. Additionally, fresh snowfall has been observed in the higher elevations of Kashmir.

Reports confirm fresh snowfall in the upper areas of Gurez valley, specifically in Bandipora district, which has led to the closure of the Bandipora-Gurez road, as per officials.

The plains have also seen moderate to heavy rainfall.

Kashmir Weather, an independent weather monitoring website, has predicted that moderate rain and snow showers are likely across most areas of Jammu and Kashmir in the coming 24 hours.

These conditions could result in lower temperatures in various locations, with Sonamarg and Pahalgam having a high likelihood of experiencing snowfall.

Kashmir Weather further forecasts that daily temperatures in the Kashmir Valley may stay below 14°C, and a notable drop in daytime temperatures is expected in the Jammu region.

Additionally, there is a risk of shooting stones and landslides along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, as cautioned by Kashmir Weather.
